The technology has been indigenously developed by BHEL, marking a major leap toward "Atmanirbhar Bharat" in the chemical and energy sectors. Ammonium nitrate is a vital component for the mining and explosives industry. By utilizing low-grade coal to produce high-value chemicals, the project aims to reduce India's import dependency on natural gas-based feedstock. The Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts have been awarded to BHEL and L&T, with the facility expected to be operational within three years.

DoT Extends SIM-binding Deadline for OTT Platforms to December 2026

Short Description : The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has extended the deadline for Over-The-Top (OTT) communication platforms to implement SIM-binding until December 31, 2026. The move aims to curb cybercrime and fraudulent activities.

Long Description : Under the Telecommunications Act, 2023, the government mandates that messaging and calling apps verify users through SIM-based authentication. This "SIM-binding" ensures that an account is tied to a verified mobile number, making it harder for cybercriminals to operate anonymous accounts for phishing or financial fraud. The extension was granted following requests from the industry for more time to develop the necessary technical infrastructure. While privacy advocates have raised concerns, the DoT maintains that this is a critical security measure. The directive falls under the Telecommunications (Telecom Cyber Security) Rules, 2024, which prioritize national security in the digital communication space.
